Better Wayz EJ Pepper Jay *B +*S

PJ is out of SG Old Mountain Farm Elton Jay ++*B and EJ's breeding career came to an end in 2022, so that makes his sons so unbelievably special and highly sought after in the States! Not only does EJ hold Superior Genetics Designation, but he was 2019, 2020 and 2021 Elite Buck - 99th percentile Elite.

PJ's dam, Better Wayz Pumpkin Spice 5*M is a beautiful doe in the Better Wayz line up. She's has depth, phenomenal teat placement, excellent rear attachments and comes from a long line of does with Superior Genetics designation. She was consistently sitting at 9+% butterfat on all of her milk testing in 2022 and was still producing 2.5 lbs at 151 DIM. Pumpkin Spice entered the show ring for the first time in the summer of 2023 earning herself a Reserve Grand Champion, 1st place 4 year old milker and dam and daughter with Mocha.

His maternal granddam, SG Better Wayz Swiss Mocha 4*M, is another foundation doe in a herd we have come to love that shows the overall udder structure consistency we have seen over and over again with the Better Wayz does. Swiss Mocha earned her championship over the summer of 2023 and took BIS over all breeds at her second show ever!

His maternal great granddam, SG Better Wayz SwissMiss Carabear 3*M, has one of the best fore udders we have ever seen. Smooth and extended - just what we LOVE to see and hope to have passed down here through Pepper Jay.

GCH Phoenix Farm Ida Special Order 1*M VEEE91, another maternal great granddam of PJ's, is described by Winning Streak as, "what we strive to breed for, dairiness, strength, smoothness of blending throughout, capacity throughout, with a near perfect mammary system, and LONGEVITY. Not much we would change about this gorgeous doe."

His paternal granddam, SG Promisedland MG Diva 1*M 4*D VEEE91, is a well known doe that holds the highest PTA and PTI for the entire breed.

The genetics behind this boy just fill us with so much hope for the Nigerian Dwarf breed moving forward in Canada and we cannot wait to see what Pepper Jay does for our herd!

I could go on and on about PJ. The consistency he is showing in his kids is very exciting to us! His daughters have incredible udder texture, improved teat thickness and length along with excellent placement, he's adding rear udder height and width, a nice smooth fore and lastly - capacity! His kids also have very correct feet and legs with strong pasterns, lovely body length, good spring of rib and that finer bone quality we're looking to improve in our herd.

 

Pepper Jay earned his +S this year after having one day milk tested 7 of his yearling daughters, all of them earning their milk stars. When I tell you these girls can milk, they can milk! We are keeping 4 daughters to carry over to a second freshening, Key Hill PJ Ghost Pepper 2*M, Key Hill PJ Carolina Reaper 2*M, Key Hill PJ Cherry Bomb 2*M and Key Hill PJ Sweet Bell 2*M, all of whom are currently on the 305. We also have a group of junior doelings by PJ staying put that will freshen in the spring.

 

In US news - this year PJ's dam, Better Wayz Pumpkin Spice 4*M, earned herself an VEEE90 at linear appraisal, and his maternal granddam SGCH Better Wayz Swiss Mocha 4*M received an EEEE92 - making her the 6th Better Wayz doe to earn that score!
